Better Late than Never

I’m one of the many Americans who recently got AA degrees.  When you think of earning a degree, you probably think of young people.  I know I did.  It’s so engrained for us, that “college-aged” is a name for 18-22 year olds.  There’s good reason for this.  Youngsters fresh from high school have their education and study habits fresh in their minds.  The things they learned in high school are current.  It also makes sense to get educated as early as you can, so that you have the benefits of your education for as many years as possible.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my years, however, it’s that you’ve got to do the best you can, even when things aren’t ideal.  They seldom are.  I’m no spring chicken, but it’s never too late to improve yourself and your situation.  I’m not alone, either.  A friend of mine just picked up an accredited associates degree in paralegal studies.  Do I wish I had started earlier?  Yes, it would have been easier to get my degree if I had started earlier, and it would have made my life easier, too.  In a perfect world, I would have gotten a BA degree a decade ago.  But I’ll tell you this much, if you do the best you can with what you have when you have it, even if things aren’t perfect, they can turn out pretty good after all.
