If you’ve ever watched any of the reality television competitions between budding chefs, you’ve probably seen that there is a lot of backstabbing going on between these people. Hopefully you realize that television doesn’t depict real life accurately. The truth is that the cooking community is a close-knit community with a strong sense of values.
Students at cooking schools like the Western Culinary Schools will tell you that some of the things they value include:
- Serving others. This is a cook’s job.
- Teamwork. A kitchen is made up of many chefs.
- Nature. People who work with food know the importance of keeping the Earth safe to grow things on it.
- Health. Most cooks want people to eat healthy.
- Loving your work. Chefs don’t go into the job for the money.
These ideals may not be depicted on reality television but they’re the things that real cooking students care about.
