College is an exciting time of life. It’s also a really busy time of life. Being so busy has a lot of benefits but it can also be something that causes your brain to be sapped of all creative energy. Since creativity is crucial to really doing well in college, students need to find a way to keep being creative despite their exhausting schedules.
Here are some tips from creative college students about how to keep your life filled with inspiration:
- Schedule an "artist date" with yourself once each week. This is just an hour or two that you take all to yourself to do something artistic. Go to a play, browse through a fabric store or sing songs in your room.
- Create a set of creativity goals. Maybe you want to start a photo scrapbook before the end of the semester. Or perhaps you want to learn to cook a fifteen bean soup. Write your goals down and post them so you can achieve them.
- Ask questions. The passive student tends to start getting less creative more quickly than the student who takes an active and engaged approach to learning.
- Keep a journal or blog. Writing about what’s going on with school can help you stay aware of your creative opportunities throughout the year.
Your creativity is what will take you from being a "B" student to getting those A’s. It will also make college a whole lot more fun!
